Neil Alden Armstrong was a United States astronaut who on July 20, 1969 became the first person ever to set foot on the moon. Armstrong and his fellow astronaut Edwin Aldrin Jr. landed their Apollo 11 spaceship on the moon and subsequently explored the moon’s surface.
